Divertimento A string orchestra for advanced string students. This orchestra will focus on literature selected from standard string orchestra repertoire. Students in this orchestra will have the opportunity for national and international tours. Students must demonstrate by audition: the ability to read advanced literature in keys of up to 5 sharps/flats. Play a 3 octave major scale in 8th notes at quarter note = 120, Demonstrate an understanding of playing in upper positions - students wanting to play 1st violin should be comfortable through 5th position and have an understanding of 6th and 7th. Violas should be able to read in treble clef and cellos in tenor. Advanced bowing styles such as spiccato, riccochet, etc. should also be demonstrated. All students should have a continuous vibrato. (Average grades: 8-12) |
